About Menger Public Safety Training
Training Built by Public Safety Professionals
Menger Public Safety Training is a Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) Contract Training Provider providing practical, career-focused training for law enforcement officers, public safety professionals, government agencies, and organizations throughout Texas.
Our courses are developed and taught by experienced practitioners who understand the realities of public safety work. We believe effective training should go beyond simply meeting a requirement—it should give students knowledge, skills, and resources they can take back to their agencies and immediately put to work.
As a TCOLE Contract Training Provider, Menger Public Safety Training provides and reports eligible continuing education training for Texas peace officers and other licensed professionals in accordance with TCOLE requirements.
Menger Public Safety Training offers agency-hosted courses across Texas, training areas such as background investigations, supervision and leadership, instructor development, professional standards, school safety, tactical operations, executive protection, and other specialized public safety disciplines.
How We Started
Menger Training Group was born from a simple idea: public safety professionals deserve training that is practical, engaging, and built around real-world experience.
The idea began with Kevin Reams, who saw an opportunity to provide specialized public safety dive training that went beyond the typical classroom model. His vision was to create highly focused, hands-on training for professionals working in demanding and technical environments.
At the same time, John Helenberg and Candice Staton shared a desire to build a training organization focused on quality instruction—training that was more than an instructor standing at the front of a room reading PowerPoint slides.
They wanted courses taught by experienced practitioners, with meaningful discussion, realistic scenarios, practical exercises, and information students could actually use when they returned to work.
Those ideas came together to form Menger Training Group, LLC; which is now doing business as Menger Public Safety Training.
What began with a focus on specialized training has grown into a broader public safety training organization serving agencies and professionals across Texas. While the course offerings continue to expand, the original philosophy remains the same:
Provide quality training, use experienced instructors, and make every class worth the student's time.
Our Approach
We focus on training that is:
- Practical — Courses are designed around real-world situations, responsibilities, and challenges.
- Relevant — Curriculum is continually reviewed to reflect current practices, laws, policies, and emerging issues.
- Experienced — Our instructors bring substantial field, instructional, investigative, supervisory, and command experience into the classroom.
- Accessible — We work with agencies throughout Texas to bring quality training closer to the professionals who need it.
- Professional — From registration through course completion and certification, we strive to make the training experience organized, responsive, and straightforward.
More Than a Classroom
Our goal is to build long-term relationships with the agencies and professionals we serve. In addition to scheduled courses, Menger Public Safety Training works with agencies to develop hosted programs, specialized training, customized instruction, and other solutions based on organizational needs.
We recognize that public safety professionals invest valuable time to attend our training, and it's our responsibility to make that time worthwhile.
